Rants of the Day:-

1)Grunt and the Exhaler are back in East Enders glorifying organised violence with their lovable chuckle-brothers style intimidation and mindless violence.

2) Right, by and large (I am trying to annoy Gaj), I love the scots, lovely people, lovely country and rightly proud of their history and their culture - but STOP banging on about English oppression, and most particularly, bloody freedom - for the following reasons -

a) Union of the crowns 1603. Queen Elizabeth of England dies and James VI of Scotland becomes James I of England (despite the better claim of Edward Lord Beauchamp). Therefore, Scotland annexes England. Just because James I preferred living in England doesn't mean he was English.

b) Why did you bother with devoloution? the major political leaders with a voice over England are Tony BLAIR, David CAMERON, Charles KENNEDY - all Scots, and who are we likely to get next? Gordon Brown, another Scottish export.

The others are OK but you can have Tony Blair back, perhaps give him governership of the Old Man of Hoy or something, he'd like that, he can patronise the seagulls.

Welshies - same applies but Henry Tudor and David Davis. (trying to annoy Gaj and Jonathan with that one - please send your predictable anti-English replies to the usual address).

Song Lyric of the Day:-

Mountains and rivers and beautiful views
Mean nothing to me, Parted From you
Sunshine or snow it all becomes grey
When I think of you, while I'm away

Comedy Quote of the Day:-

"Does anyone know what happened here?"
"No, I don't"
"Me neither, I was right on the other side of the village when we burned her"

(Blackadder 1)

Gibber of the Day:-

What passing bells for those who die as cattle?
Only the monstrous anger of the guns.
Only the stuttering rifles' rapid rattle
Can patter out their hasty orisons.
No mockeries for them from prayers or bells,
Nor any voice of mourning save the choirs,
The shrill, demented choirs of wailing shells;
And bugles calling for them from sad shires.

What candles may be held to speed them all?
Not in the hands of boys, but in the eyes
Shall shine the holy glimmers of good-byes.
The pallor of girls' brows shall be their pall;
Their flowers the tenderness of patient minds,
And each slow dusk a drawing-down of blinds.
